Hunter Gather Cook brings the ancient art of foraging, hunting, and outdoor cooking to life in the scenic woodlands of East Sussex. Founded in 2011 by Nick Weston, the experience is set at Shepherds Barn on the Firle Estate, a beautifully restored 1820s threshing barn now transformed into a hub for culinary adventure. Here, participants are immersed in seasonal game butchery, foraging, and fire-cooked feasts, guided by an expert team of chefs, hunters, and foragers.
This rustic, off-grid kitchen is equipped with a fire pit, smoker, and clay ovens, where guests learn to prepare local, fresh ingredients exclusively with fire. Signature events include the ‘Deer in a Day’ course and seasonal long-table banquets, all served with a deep respect for nature. Hunter Gather Cook offers a unique, hands-on way to experience the wild flavours of the English countryside in a setting that’s as authentic as it is unforgettable.
